PURPOSE STATEMENT
The course aims to provide the learner with the basic knowledge and skills associated with project management. These Include:
- To provide an introduction and overview of current trends and principles associated with project management
- To be able to contribute towards the project management process during each stage of the project cycle.
- Contribute to project initiation and developing project proposals. Various methods of planning projects, like the Logical Framework Analysis, will be introduced. The preparation of a project proposal will also be considered.
- To apply a range of project management tools used to manage projects and will include the use of software, budget spreadsheets, project schedules, risk assessment techniques and the critical path method.
- Practice Financial Management and Planning. Estimate and prepare cost budget for an element of work and monitor and control cost against budget.
- To provide the learner with enough knowledge to be able to develop a project plans business plans can also be introduced if participants are interested.
- Implementing project control methods.
- To be able to work in a team as well as to administer projects correctly. This will include holding meetings, running workshops and general procurement administration.
- Understanding project risk
- To able to access and manage donor funding
Fund raising, working with donors and managing consultants can be introduced if the course participants require these skills.

OBJECTIVE
At the end of the module the participants should be able to:

Contribute to project initiation.

Understand the various phases of a project and implement various project management tools associated with each phase.

Understand risk assessment and management.

Fulfil procurement activities and supervise procurement administration within the workplace as well as within any specific project environment.

Provide assistance in implementing and assuring project work is conducted in accordance with project quality plan.

Evaluate and improve the project team’s performance.

Identify, organise and co-ordinate project life cycle phases for control purposes.

Schedule project activities to facilitate effective project execution.

Preparation of a project budget and manage project finances
COST:
This course costs R5700.00 per person for a minimum group size of 10 people.
