Studying at the SAWC was a dream come true for me. In 2007 I did the Certificate course in Natural Recourses Management. During the course we did 22 modules like computer skills, personnel management, ensuring eco-system integrity, animal man-agement etc. All the modules are useful to me as I can implement the information that I’ve learnt in my workplace. After I graduated in 2002 I was promoted to Assistant Parks Wildlife offi-cer. In 2007 I was promoted as senior assistant responsible for education and extension in the Northern region of Malawi. Charity Kumwenda (Malawi) I studied at SAWC in 2003, in 2004 I was promoted to Warden Post and was transferred to Vic Falls National Park. I implemented a lot of the things I’ve learnt. In 2005 I did my diploma. In 2009 I was transferred to Vumba Botanical Gardens & Reserve. This is a challenge as I have never done Horticulture. I am managing with the knowledge and skills I got from the college. - Revayi Mudzingwa (Zimbabwe) After my I got my diploma in 2005 I was promoted to Park Ranger at Mongu in the Western Part of Zambia. I am responsible with all the operations at unit level. Mirriam Mamushi (Zambia) My name is Trevor Silwamba. I am currently working in South Luangwa National Park as a researching assistant in the research section. I found the Certificate course I attended in 2004 to be very beneficial as most of the aspects are closely related to the department I w0ork in. I have already implemented the knowledge I have learned for example: Fire Management . Usually our park is very dry faced with a lot of bushfires. For that reason we have employed patch burning and are in the process of widening our fire break lines as we realized the fired were able to jump the breaks. Since I got back to my workplace I have been given more responsibilities which I find very interesting as they broaden your management skills. Trevor Silwamba |
